What's happening with it? Is it coming out this year for the PS-3?

Not sure anybody really knows the answer to that, but its definately gonna be for the PS3 (that much we do know). Though I wouldnt be expecting it this year. It is supposedly be the teams behind Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy: Advent Children, so I would expect a very different kind of gameplay. Infact from what I've seen from the screenshots, it may even be a little conmfusing. We might even see an end to the old turn based battle systems. I know they changed it a little in X and then again in XII but this time the battle system might be completely unreconisable.

I don't like the games past X.. I bought one once and found that the gameplay and art was completely different.
It's just not the same as it was.
Wasn't even really that good.
Let's see.. I think it was XII..

It was like Star Wars.. But in a bad way.
The older Final Fantasies had a more.. colourful and um.. magical.. feel..
I dunno it was just different.

But then, I didn' really play it for very long..
To me personally, it seems like Square just stopped caring about making a "Final Fantasy" game.
Either that or one of the key creators died. Or he died and they stopped caring..
I can never remember those Japanese names.. 'cept one. But only when I see it..
Something like "Hironobu Sakaguchi"..
Did I get that right? What did he do..
I think that he was supposed to be pretty important.. Was he the guy that showed up at the end of the opening credits for IX or the one who Okayed the idea of using Tifa as female lead in VII or both?...
Okay, now I'm just rambling..
Ah.. now someone's gonna flame me and the thread will die..

I played that game through twice and never beat it or figured out what was going on, frankly Laguna's side story was the only interesting part of the whole mess
